Last stop in Thailand: Krabi

Krabi: August 2015

Krabi, Thailand

Krabi, Thailand

We’re cheap. So we save money any way we can, including taking all day to travel from Vientiane to Krabi via Bangkok. We could have booked the quick flight, but instead we sat around in the Bangkok airport all day just to save a few. Totally worth it. We ate Burger King there, and after eating the same type of food for the last month or more (albeit good food, but the same nonetheless) BURGER KING WAS AMAZING.

We finally made it to Krabi. We took the shuttle from the airport, and were the last to get dropped off. Our hotel was nice, and we even got a free upgrade. Woo-hoo! Our room was a loft. It was really nice, just don’t try to walk down the stairs in the dark, or you may break your neck. Those things were treacherous. We arrived so late that all we wanted to do was sleep, so sleep we did.

We had no plans for Krabi. Well, my plan was to sit by the pool all day, but we decided to take a boat to some of the other islands. We spent the first day walking around the town. We had lunch across from our hotel at a local place that we liked so much, we went back every day and sometimes twice in a day. We hung out by the pool, and took advantage of happy hour.

We finally made it to a tour, which left much to be desired, but we really didn’t have much choice. I don’t even remember all the places we went, but it was the same places as every other tourist. IT WAS SO CROWDED. Ridiculously so. I don’t know why the different tour operators don’t stagger, or maybe visit the islands in a different order. Even they had trouble maneuvering between the boats for a spot. It was less than ideal, but we made the best of it. We had lunch on Phi Phi, and visited the famous spot where they shot “The Beach,” which, even with all the people, was quite stunning. We did a bit of snorkeling, which was fun. I saw a reef shark, and when I yelled to Javier, I looked back to see him making a bee-line back to the boat.

Snorkel action.

The water was gorgeous. We’ve seen a lot of water recently, but this was some of, if not thee, prettiest waters we have ever come across.

We spent the evening walking along the beach. Javier was busy snapping pictures, and I was busy annoying the hermit crabs, and looking for seashells to sneak through customs. It was a peaceful way to end our busy day.

That night, after dinner, we walked by the most pimped-out tuk-tuk. Awesome doesn’t even begin to describe this thing.

We woke up singing Bruno Mars. “Today I don’t feel like doing aaaanything!” And thus was the theme song for the day. We hung out at the pool. ALL DAY- only leaving to eat across the street. We facetimed with our families, and blogged. It was a lovely day. We spent a total of four days in Krabi, and other than our tour of the overcrowded islands, did absolutely nothing, and it was lovely.
